摘要

This paper aims to make a historical and landscape architectural preview of the recreational parks and botanical gardens of 19th century in Athens which were part of the "greenery" vision of Amalia, the first Queen of Greece. The Queen cooperated with architects, botanologists and gardeners and followed certain principles and European movements like the German Romantic Historism for their formulation. The Royal Garden, known today as National Garden, the Hasseki's Farm, Eptalofos land and the Zappeion Gardens are Amalia's main projects, through which she tried to contribute to the development of liberated Greece.
