'Academic Environment of Biomaterials Science and Engineering at the School of Chemical Engineering of NTUA'

摘要

The relatively new chemical engineering interdisciplinary field of Biomaterials has been growing rapidly. In an attempt to define the discipline of biomaterials as the study and knowledge of the interaction between living and non living materials or the materials that are supposed to mimic the biological materials, we have introduced an undergraduate course in biomaterials science and engineering within the context of the academic program of the classical program of the Chemical Engineering School of the National Technical University of Athens. A series of topics are presented, which are included in the course with the definition of the essential knowledge base and description of the study. Several comments and suggestions on the Education of Biomaterials are given for a study period of two academic teaching years.
