摘要

Sustainable development is the major issue of pursuing the eternal existence and future development around the world. Incorporating the authorized sustainable vision with the regional-specific background of nature and culture, Tainan County Government has designed four main issues of regional sustainable development as natural ecosystem, environmental protection, green industry and green construction. This paper is primarily focused on the issue of environmental protection for regional sustainable development. The methodology of natural purification, which is applied as a scheme of wastewater treatment, plays an important part in the subjects of regional environment protection. The process of incubating a constructed wetland was addressed, which started from environmental education, buildup of environmental awareness, community participation, and practice regional sustainable development. The establishment of the Kang-Wei constructed wetland system (CWS) was employed as case study to restore its natural purification of Jiang-Jiun creek. The public is educated to be willing to participate the construction and maintenance of CWS by incubating the concepts of water pollution control and water resource conservation. This paper is aimed at sharing the experience on commencing subjects and performing strategy of sustainable development at the viewpoint of the local authority.
