Durability of HCHO Removal Efficiency of Air Cleaner with Plasma Discharger

Some paper reported the effectiveness of the air cleaners in removing the chemicals. Most of such studies analysed only the initial performance of the air cleaners. On the other hand, some reports focused on the air cleaners' removal performance regard to the durability. However, as shown by previous reports, the durability of air cleaners are not still fulfill the requirements for the use under heavy loaded environment. We compared the performance of air cleaners from the viewpoint of durability whether they have plasma discharger inside, or not. After three months continuous operation under low formaldehyde concentration, CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of air cleaner without plasma decreased to 39% from initial. However when with plasma, CADR decreased only to 76%. It can be thought that the plasma discharger regenerated the deodorizing filter and was effective to expand the effect of formaldehyde removal.
