BIM's outstanding ability of data sharing can significantly enhance engineers' working efficiency on various analysis software Thus, a BIM platform is needed for analysis software to store, manage and share BIM data. This paper mainly focuses on the design and implementation of a BIM platform for analysis software in AEC industry. Based on the investigation of literatures and interviews to designers, the characteristics of the BIM platform for analysis software are identified, where the notion "light-weight" is stressed. Then the functional requirements and the framework of the BIM platform are established. Finally, major functions of each partial module are designed and developed. The BIM platform is both comprehensive and economical, and it is better applicable for developing analysis software in AEC industry.
