The TRD is developed at 1993 as a highly performable construction method for diaphragm slurry wall. The machine mainly consists of cutting units with chain saw, supporting frames for the cutting units and base machine for the operation. The featured cutting with chain saw enables us to dig a deep trench for slurry wall up to about fifty meters in hard layer, even in stony layer and rock. However, it causes considerable wear at expendable mechanical parts in the cutting units. Blindness to this wearing process loads us with a futile cost of machine maintenance. The work performance for ten years and in more than a million square meter of the constructed area of walls have given us clearer knowledge of the wearing process at each expendable part. Especially we got the difference of wear in portion and its ratio of wear to constructed area of walls. This knowledge for example enables us to reduce the futile cost of having excessive spare parts. In addition we show the most recent sample of work performance in hard layer, which the results of this study enable us to proceed efficiently.
