Denison Mines Zambia Limited, a subsidiary of Denison Mines Corp (Denison), conducted a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) in 2008 to assess the technical and commercial viability of its Mutanga Project in Zambia. SGS Lakefield Oretest Pty Ltd (SGS) was requested by Denison to construct and operate an integrated pilot plant to assess an alkaline leach process flowsheet option as part of the DFS. Mutanga consists of a single prospecting license covering 944 square kilometres. There are two main deposits, Mutanga and Dibwe, and a number of exploration areas. Both deposits are shallow and amenable to open pit mining.
