The use of a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer equipped with an atmospheric ionisation interface is the method of choice of many laboratories around the world for routine bioanalysis. The selectivity of the 2 mass separating quadrupoles (Q1 and Q3) at nominal mass resolution is usually sufficient to ensure a highly selective assay but sometimes chromatographic interferences can still exist particularly at and close to the low limit of quantification (LLOQ).
