Organocatalysis is a new expanding field of the acceleration of chemical reactions through the addition of substoichiometric quantity of an organic compound which does not contain a metal atom. Organocatalysts are complimentary to organometallic catalyst. The interest of this new field has increased in the last few years due to the fact that the efficiency and selectivity of organocatalytic reactions meet the standards of established organic reactions such as easily availability with a low price, easy separation from the product and also easy recovery after work up, without racemization. Organocatalysts are environmentally friendly which do not contain any heavy metal, with proline the best known example, which makes them well suited for the purpose.
