摘要

Exposure to drugs of abuse, such as cocaine, is associated with long-term and progressively enhanced alterations in behavior. A complex interplay between dopamine, and other signaling molecules found in specific, reward-related brain regions, such as the striatum, is thought to mediate these changes. Progress in understanding addiction pathophysiology and its associated behavior can be facilitated by methods for fast, sensitive and simultaneous analysis of signaling molecules in relevant brain structures. In this work, we combine mass spectrometric technologies with rodent behavioral models of cocaine addiction for investigation of neuropeptides and small proteins in the brain regions implicated in addictive process.
