摘要

Cation-(pi) interactions and their roles in structure determination, ion transport, and molecular recognition in biological systems as well as the possibility of using such interactions for separations and sensor applications has led to increasingly widespread studies of these interactions. In fundamental studies aimed at the detailed characterization of cation-(pi) interactions, we have employed guided ion beam tandem mass spectrometry techniques to examine a wide variety of cation-(pi) complexes to determine their absolute bond dissociation energies (BDEs).
