摘要

The new software (STORMS) that does statistical analysis on complex organic mixtures' spectra has been developed. The STORMS can also provide elemental formulae of statistically selected peaks that can help interpretation. The STROMS was applied to find correlation between peaks observed n high resolution mass spectra and properties of 10 petroleum samples. Most of the positively correlated peaks with sulfur content had sulfur atoms in their calculated elemental formulae confirming the credibility of the statistical analysis. A number of peaks with negative correlation relationship were also found. Future effort will be directed to add more statistical tools to the STORMS and widen the application fields to humic and metabolomic studies.
