LAESI-MS/MS analysis successfully detected and identified an endogenous ergot alkaloid within seeds of Ipomeatricolor. Using LAESI-MS/MS imaging the spatial distribution and identification of the alkaloid was determined by mapping the fragment m/z 197.1 from ergonovine.
