In this work PSI-FAIMS-MS analyses of explosives and drugs in negative mode and positive mode, respectively, were achieved. Baseline separation of the two groups of analytes was observed. A slightly lower curtain plate voltage (500 V) was needed to keep adduct ions intact while transmitting from PSI to FAIMS. Solvent vapor introduced as curtain gas was also needed to assist ions in going through FAIMS cell under the influence of the waveform. Although characteristic CW ions were observed in PSI-MS mode and also with the FAIMS cell in place, obtaining a CV-gram with adequate peak shape will require further experiments.
