摘要

There are several triple-helical regions where peptides arisen from α-1 and α-2 chains tend to be preserved commonly. Tryptic peptides with residues 763-795 were identified in almost all the archaeological specimens including human bone (ca. 8,000 BC, Texas), wall paintings (2,400 BC, Egypt), and binders of pigment (180-200 AD, Rome) and sooth (750 AD, Nara). The resistance of collagen to degradation can be different between the forms in bones and animal glue, probably due to the difference between the physical protection (bone) and intrinsic helix-stability.
