Licochalcone A formed five (5) Phase I mono- or di-oxygenated metabolites (MW: M1, M2, M3 = 354; M4, M5 = 370) during incubation with human liver microsomes. MS/MS analysis indicated addition of one oxygen atom to the A-ring, B-ring or both. The CYP450 isozymes involved in the formation of major phase I metabolites were determined. These in vitro data will help predict human bioavailability and metabolism of LicA from licorice.
