Therapeutic ultrasound in the frequency range of 1 to 3 MHz has been used in physical therapy since the 1950s. It is mainly used to treat soft tissue injuries, to help reducing local swelling and chronic inflammation, to promote bone fracture healing and to administer medications to tissues below the skin. Despite the widespread adoption of therapeutic ultrasound in clinical practice, its clinical benefit to patients remains uncertain, and the understanding of its physiological effects does not justify its use. The effects of therapeutic ultrasound at molecular level have not been investigated at present. In this study, the proteomic and transcriptomic analyses of sonicated cells were done.
