A Movable Platform for Field Information Acquisition

The main task of this study is to develop a movable platform for field information acquisition and test the LQI (link quality index) between nodes at different heights and different distances to find a relatively better link quality and work stabilityfor wireless communication. The system was constructed by an integrated PDA and some sensor nodes. The integrated PDA can be divided into a RFID reader, a ZigBee coordinator, and the main part of PDA. The integrated PDA as the ZigBee coordinator was designed to establish the wireless networks while the sensor nodes as the ZigBee routers were used to join the networks and gather the field information. The communication between PDA and the sensor nodes were bi-directional. The JN5139 wireless MCU was chosen in the design of the circuits for coordinator and routers. The software included a network communication program of wireless sensor networks, sensor acquisition procedure, and the PDA interface program. Some experiments were conducted for the performance test of the whole system in the field, sensors indoor, and wireless communication outside. The test of the whole system demonstrates that the PDA could gather the information sent from the sensor notes. The test ofsensors in the refrigerator shows that the sensor can read out 0°C degree. The test of wireless communication outside could conduct us the deployment of nodes.
