ISCO has been researched and applied in the field for over 15 years and has devel- oped into a technically complex yet effective remedial technology when designed and applied correctly. ISCO has several beneficial characteristics that have resulted in its selection as the remedial technology for a variety of sites. The primary beneficial charac- teristics include an ability degrade a wide suite of environmental contaminants of con- cern, cost effectiveness for a variety of conditions, the ability to treat areas that are inaccessible or too deep to consider excavation and treatment off-site, and ISCO reac- tions occur relatively rapidly, on the order of hours to months, dependent on the oxidant demand and conditions associated with the technology and target treatment area.
