摘要

Transmission of swine pathogens is achieved by direct contact with infected pigs or indirect contact with the various pathogen mediators including disease carriers. The wild rodents and cats have been suspected as being the reservoir or carrier of some of swine pathogens such as Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, Trichinella spiralis, encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV), porcine coronavirus type 2 (PCV2) and so on. In particular, in case of EMCV, rats and mice are believed to be the principal reservoirof the virus(l,2). In addition, PCV2 that is an important pathogen implicated in the pathogenesis of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) had been shown to be capable of viral replication in mice and give rise to fetal infection. Thus, theobjective of this study is to determine the swine viral pathogens which are infective to wild rats and mice and cats and finally to evaluate the possibility of the wild animal-borne transmission of the important swine pathogens in Korea.
