摘要

Future integrated information systems for general practice should enable: clinicians to access appropriate information about individual patients held on other systems for the clinical care and treatment of the patient; health professionals to access the knowledge base of health care at the point of care; dispensing practices to have synchronous links; the development of a framework for electronic prescribing; GP to GP electronic transfer of patients records; intercommunication between clinical and administrative systems. It is known that adherence to clinical guidelines improves quality of care and also that clinical decision support systems offer an effective way to implement clinical guidelines by requiring user's active participation and problem oriented thinking. Attempts made so far of primary care implementation of clinical guidelines in the field of depression are described and their effects discussed. It turns out that there are few existing solutions, ambiguous effects and that usage is often limited. In future factors determining developement of succesful electronic tools for clinical guidelines implementation will need to be further specified. International project RIGHT is developing a knowledge management platform for general practitioners including state-of-the-art computerized decision support system and could serve as a testing ground.
