The Acetyls industry has seen and will continue to experience dramatic increases in supply in 2010- 2012, changing the global supply-demand balance for acetic acid. At the same time the demand for the entire acetyls chain is igniting with application innovation and product substitution in a diverse array of market spaces. The global demand growth in acetic acid for 2010 was 14 percent even as the economy is just now on the cusp of a recovery and GDP growth rates are slowly being adjusted upward. Global vinyl acetate demand also grew at double digit rates in 2010 as automotive, construction, and polyvinyl polymer demand re-emerged.
