The burden distribution and burden quality design are the key technology for the high PCR and low coke rate. Burden distribution control with 3-pararell bunker bell-less top for high productivity and low coke rate operation are discussed. Concepts of the desirable gas distribution and layer structure for improvements of gas permeability and reducibility are studied by the mathematical model and laboratory tests. Based on the concepts, peripheral gas flow control and new charging method for high ratio coke mixing are practiced.
