This preliminary study examines the challenges faced by family businesses (FBs) in Qatar.The results show that being aware of the opportunities from globalization and the availability of networking positively affect the firms' readiness to face globalization.Also,the availability of networking represents an opportunity for the FBs to expand their business overseas which in turn influence them to look for sources of funds to expand their business.Finally,the availability of the sources of funds also influences them to formulate new strategies to face such challenges.Two specific implications of this study are also presented.
