1. Direct inject FTICR MS allows for many samples to be run rapidly, allowing for rapid kinetic characterization of PKS systems. (PikAIV AT only). 2. LC-FTICR MS can assist in developing a model for PKS biosynthesis by monitoring ACP active site bound intermediates, which are difficult to monitor. 3. Low resolution LC-qMS can be used in conjunction with a high-resolution, MS/MS instrument (eg. real world concerns about instrument time). 4. Low resolution LC-qMS offers suprisingly good spectra of intact proteins. 5. Combining complimentary MS methods will allow for a model of PKS biosynthesis to be developed.
