We deploy Omics and (Epi)Genetics systems technologies to characterize health as a function of diet and lifestyle [1,2]. We develop systems biology platforms, natural human cell models, human genetics, and clinical trials. We address immune balance [3,4], energy metabolism [5], physical [6] and mental performance as well as digestive health [7]. We study the same cell or human over time with environmental/nutritional challenges to capture individual health trajectories. We want to better understand and act upon metabolic, cognitive and intestinal health. Gut Microbiota and Neonatal Immunity – Proteomics meets Genomics A complex interplay between the intestinal microbiota and the host's immune system shapes the latter throughout life. We evaluated the effect of commensal bacteria on B cell ontogeny and function [4]. Classical immunology plus transcriptomics revealed an influence of gut microbiota on function of mucosal B2 B cells. Postnatal intestinal development is characterized by morphological changes plus functional adaption to… Nutritional change from a diet rich in lipids (milk) to a diet rich in carbohydrates on from weaning. We analyzed primary IECs from jejunum during the early/middle suckling, and weaning period in mice. Label-free Orbitrap-based LC-MS/MS time-resolved proteomics of intestinal epithelial cells along postnatal development.
