The authors of this paper were team members on the WateReuse Research Foundation research project WRF 08-05 "Use of Ozone in Water Reclamation for Contaminant Oxidation" led by Shane Snyder at the University of Arizona. The charge of the authors on this project was to develop a conceptual cost estimating framework so readers of the final report could calculate an estimated cost for different advanced treatment process trains by adding together various unit processes to conventional recycled water treatment systems. Numerous simplifying assumptions were made and costs can be estimated for a range of recycled water flow rates.
