In this paper, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of an airfoil shaped three-bladed H-Darrieus rotor using Fluent 6.2 software is performed. A two dimensional computational modeling is done with the help of Gambit tool using unstructured grid. The inlet velocities and rotor rotational speeds are taken from the experiments conducted earlier on an H-Darrieus rotor in a subsonic wind tunnel. From the computational analysis, power coefficient (C_p) values at different height-to-diameter (H/D) ratios namely 0.85, 1.0, 1.33, 1.72 and 2.0 are calculated in order to predict the performance of the twisted H-rotor. The variation of C_p with tip speed ratio is analyzed and the highest value of C_p is obtained at an H/D ratio of 1.0. The deviation of computational results from experimental results is within ±1.5% which is quite encouraging.
