摘要

The Foreword lists the 8 previous International Drainage Symposia organized byASABE and describes the theme of the 9th IDS presented in Quebec, Canada in June 2010. The 9th IDS builds on the previous symposia and a total of 77 oral and poster presentations from 22 countries cover topics such as drainage and water quality, modeling and evaluation of drainage models, drainage and salinity, performance of drainage water management systems, drainage of agricultural lands, drainage of forested lands, andtreatment of drainage water. The tribute to Professor R. Wayne Skaggs was presented on June 16, 2010 at a recognition luncheon during the 9th IDS. The contributions of Dr. Skaggs have been truly amazing in both quantity and quality. These contributions have resulted in improved water use efficiency, water quality protection, and increased productivity of agricultural and forest lands. The drainage and water management engineering community and all those who look to them for answers will reap the benefits of this inheritance for years many to come.
