The purpose of this paper is to describe the outcomes following multivisceral en bloc resections for locally advanced gastric cancer and to note technical problems regarding such aggressive surgery. A retrospective study was conducted on 146 patients presenting cancers localised at the proximal stomach and cardia. Surgical mortality for the multivisceral resection group was noted in 7,40 % and the global 5 years survival rate was 17.8%. We consider that the keystone of multivisceral resections is en bloc technique and it is a feasible solution. The patients should be selected carefully. This way, the morbidity and mortality would be acceptable.
