摘要

This paper is focuses on the understating of howone are metabolism through tourist development withoutany specific plaining from the begging. As a case study theCity of Agia Napa was chosen which presented uniquecharacteristics the last 45 years as was and still the mainplayer for Tourism Development in Cyprus as can guestmore than 30% of the total tourism that visit Cyprus whileat the same time offer millions of € in the Government.The last 45 years Agia Napa developed very fast a hugeHospitality Industry giving limited attention to the correctdevelopment. Considering the fact that in 1980s mosttourists were looked for cheap destinations, with goodfood, nightlife, beaches and safe environment Ayia Napabecame an attraction. Green areas were dramaticallyreduced, essentially lost the orientation point which wasthe Medieval Monastery as in the nearby areas weredeveloped and expand restaurants, pubs, nightclubs,discos, etc. There was essentially an integrated design thatdoes not respect the environment and the society. The onlyobjectives in the past were to cover quickly the needs andthe requirement for the tourist with the maximumeconomical profit. Main objective is to understand themetabolism of the city in the framework of SustainableDevelopment.
