Two elderberry cultivars ('Albida' and 'Dana')were studied and compared with wild elderberry. The aim was to determine suitable method for rooting of softwood cuttings with using of chemical stimulators and to determine content of sugars and vitamin C in fruits of cultivars and wild genotype. IBA solution with 2500 ppm concentration, which positively affected the rooting of softwood cuttings in both observed cultivars, was used for chemical stimulation of softwood cuttings. Content of sugars was determined by gravimetric survey. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was used for vitamin C content determination. The highest contents of sugars (9.2 g 100 g~(-1)) as well as vitamin C (26.0 g 100 g~(-1)) were found in cultivar 'Dana'. The lowest contents of sugars and vitamin C were determined in wild elderberry as 7.0 and 12.0 g 100 g~(-1) respectively.
