Most satellites, including AMSAT Fox satellites, collect important satellite state andexperimental data at periodic intervals throughout an orbit. A complete orbital history ofsatellite data can be extremely important in not only determining the continuing health of asatellite, but also in determining reasons and corrective action when anomalies are observed.Acquiring and maintaining historical data implies that there must be a system to not only collectsufficient and timely data at the satellite, but it must also ensure that a complete record of thisdata is received at control points on Earth. In this paper I discuss a simulation method that wasused to help answer some important satellite systems design questions concerning thecollection, retention, transmission and ultimate reception of “whole orbit data” at an Earthcontrol point.
