Transbronchial lung biopsy ( TBLB ) is a bronchoscopy related technique, a viable option to open king biopsy in patients with interstitial lung fibrosis or nodular" masses situated outside direct endoscopic view. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic yield, risk and complications of transbronchial lung biopsies performed in the Endoscopy Department of Pulmonology Clinic. Cluj-Napoca. from 2007 to 2011. Out of 194 TBLB performed we had confirmation of diagnosis rate of 61.94% and 1.03% complications rate.Transbronchial lung biopsy represents the removal of lung tissue using a forceps guided trough a working channel of a fibrobronchoscope. It is a method used in the diagnosis of focal lesions and interstitial lung diseases that cannot be observed in routine bronchoscopy checkup procedure.[1] TBLB compared with surgical lung biopsy has a low morbidity and inortality.[l.5.8.11]
