A 24-year-old Congo African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus) was evaluated for tonic-clonic seizure activity that had been occurring for a duration of 8 years. Several anti-epileptic medications had previously been attempted with poor success. Levetiracetam (100 mg/kg PO ql2hr) was initiated and seizure activity promptly ceased. Ten months after starting the medication, tonic-clonic seizure activity began to reoccur. Levetiracetam was increased to three times per day and the seizures again stopped.Seizures continue to be well controlled 2 years later.
