It has been clear that low intensity laser (LILT) has had a biomudulation- effect. Therefore, this therapyis widely used for pain control and wound healing in oral and maxillofacial regions. However, there are stillsome controversies around the clinical efficacy and repeatability in terms of clinical application. This articlecomprises techniques and regimes based on basic studies, clinical trials and practices as follows: treatingtemporomandibular disorders using 820nm at 107J/cm2, immediate pain relief of aphthous stomatitis using defocusedCO2 laser irradiating to energy absorption media, and promoting healing of erosive type lichen planususing a welding technique by 830nm at 2 W. These result in clinical efficacies and patients’ satisfactions.
