摘要

This study presents a new technique for pseudo-linear joining of dissimilar materials. First, multiple holes on a joined material, such as a steel plate, are pierced with a press or a punching machine. The holes have an inclined surface owing to the breakout angle. The breakout side of the joined material is then brought into contact with a backing plate to enclose the holes. Next, a base material such as an aluminum alloy plate is placed on it, and friction stirring with horizontal tool traveling is conducted on it to fill the holes with the deformed material. Eventually, a pseudo linear mechanical joint is created by the undercut in the holes, which is derived from the shear droop. Herein, the pseudo-bead-width and strength of the joints were investigated with a 3 mm-thick A5083 aluminum alloy plate and a 1 mm-thick perforated SPCC steel plate.
