摘要

The Department of Energy's portfolio of research projects focused on developing a better understanding of the relationships between hydraulic fracturing treatment design and unconventional oil and natural gas (UOG) recovery is delivering new insights into how operators can improve recovery in UOG plays. Recovering the maximum amount of the U.S. oil and natural gas endowment is a key element of any effort to boost domestic energy production and strengthen America's energy dominance. The Department of Energy's (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Advanced Unconventional Oil & Natural Gas Technology Program includes more than a dozen recently completed and ongoing research projects as well as a number of recently awarded projects focusing on CO_2 enhanced oil recovery. Several new projects involve partnerships with producers to conduct research in field laboratory wells during drilling, well completion, and production operations that involved CO_2 utilization.
