摘要

Traditional or conventional methods or approach of managing pipeline integrity lies with system/software, inspection tools/equipment, people's competencies and capabilities and even availability of a pipeline system to be able to be pigged or inspected without causing detrimental impact to operations let alone the business. PETRONAS currently operates more than 10,000 km of high pressure pipelines; around 73% of the pipelines are located offshore transporting crude/raw hydrocarbons and the remaining are onshore carrying processed hydrocarbon. After being managing integrity of pipeline system especially offshore for the past 25-30 years, there are operational, logistic and systemic issues/challenges that in PETRONAS' perspective requires 'drastic and structural' changes moving forward into the future of 'digitalization' and 'predictive analytics'.
