Air lubrication method is a technique to reduce the frictional resistance by supplying air between the hull surface and seawater. Air layer is formed by the coalescence of the injected air bubbles over a certain air flow rate. The total energy efficiency is increased when the rate of decrease of the frictional resistance by the air layer is larger than the energy supplying the air. Air lubrication patterns must be confirmed and air injection position and injection flow rate should be properly controlled to improve efficiency for air lubrication system on full scale vessel.In this study, air injection experiment was performed on the plate and model line, and the lubrication diffusion angle was measured by image analysis.
