Multidimensional analysis of linear and branched polymers and proteins by size exclusion chromatography with dynamic surface tension detection is presented. In particular, the application of this hyphenated chromatographic technique is applied to the analysis and characterization of poly (ethylene) glycol (PEG) polydispersity, molecular sizing of branched PEGs, and separation and analysis of protein samples. Benefits of multidimensional chromatographic detection for SEC and selective surface activity analysis are briefly discussed. The dynamic nature of the surface tension signal is shown to provide additional chemical information and selectivity.
