Distribution of oestrus, lambing rates, and distribution were recorded for 1,786 Awassi female yearlings(18 months) and 367 ewes following cervical insemination using 0.2 ml of fresh semen from 17 Turkish (Ceylanpinar) and four Israeli Awassi rams. Seventy percent of the yearlings and 85percent of the ewes showed oestrus within 20 days of the start of the mating season. The majority of lambing occurred over a period of three weeks. Lambing rates form the first insemination were 61.0percent for yearlings and 70.3percent for ewes. Lambing rates from two inseminations were 71.2percent and 82.8percent, respectively . These results are higher than in most provious studies.
