Different criteria allowing to check if a variant selection was effective by phase transformation from cubic to hexagonal lattice are proposed. They are built from the properties of some C's coefficients of the Orientation Distribution Function characterising the transformed texture. These criteria can be easily adapted to cubic-orthorhombic transformations. Moreover, it is shown that, under specific conditions, the parent β texture can be deduced from the inherited α texture.
