摘要

The introduction of Roundup Ready cotton has provided an additional weed management option for cotton producers. Studies were conducted in the San Joaquin Valley of California from 1997 to 2001 to determine the most efficacious timing and method of application to reduce crop injury and provide the greatest weed control. These studies determined over-the-top applications of Roundup (glyphosate) to greater than four leaf stage cotton would cause significant injury resulting in yield reductions. Currently, Roundup Ready Flex, the next generation of Roundup Ready cotton, has been made available for testing. Studies were conducted in 2003 and 2004 to determine potential injury to the crop and weed management efficacy. Results indicate over-the-top applications of Roundup at up to 14 true leaf stage cotton have no detrimental effect on yield or quality. Once fully integrated into the California cotton production system, Roundup Ready Flex cotton will provide growers with greater flexibility in application timing than was available with the original Roundup Ready cotton system.
