It is well known that certain polymer coating systems can become degraded when subjected to prolonged exposure to the elements, This degradation occurs even in a dry and traditionally non-corrosive environment. Photo-degradation mechanisms are believed to be the root cause of this phenomenon and the driving force behind these degradation mechanisms is the UV component of the impinging light.
