Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) seedlings in the nurseries are subjected to the attack of Curvularia lunata var. aeria Ellis, incitant of leaf blight, resulting In loss of vigour in the seedlings. In nursery raising, among the two methods adopted,wider spaced seedlings under single tier system recorded the disease incidence to a maximum of 12.92 per cent as against to that of 54.46 per cent in closely spaced seedlings under two tier system. Among the two methods of irrigation systems adopted, theseedlings provided with basal irrigation under drip recorded the disease to a maximum of 7.50 per cent as against to that of 86.36 per cent under sprinkler irrigation. For a need based chemical control, among the fungicides viz., Benomyl, Captan, Carbendazim, Chlorothalonil, Copper Oxychloride, Hexaconazole, Mancozeb, Propiconazole, Propineb, Tricyclazole, Thiophanate methyl and Thiovit tested in vitro and in vivo, Tricyclazole (2000 mg/ml) followed by Mancozeb (2500 mg/ml) and Propiconazole (2500 mg/ml) were found effective in the management of the disease in the nursery.
