In the past, several axial mixing theories have been developed, and experiments have been conducted to verify the theories. However, the number of experiments was limited, and more importantly, these experiments did not take account of the geometry of the pipes. In this paper, the results of the axial mixing experiments with a newly developed methodology with fast response are described. The experiment results are compared with the past studies and qualitative agreements are obtained. Further, LES is conducted to investigate the mixing phenomena. LES has revealed the complexities which are not taken account by our experimental condition.
