The new cabling recommendation for apartment houses of the association of Berlin-Brandenburg housing companies and the Deutsche Telekom
The last years have shown an increasing speed of the development of telecommunication services world-wide. Even in the very next future, the internet will transmit more information than the Conventional telephone service. It is a very difficult question to predict the development of the different services over the next 10 to 20 yesrs. On the other hand, the telecommunication infrastructure in apparent houses is of increasing importance for the attractiveness of apartments. For housing companies, the right choice of cable types, network architecture and network flexibility is one of the most critical question for today's building and reconstruction prejects. In Germany, for example, about 600.000 houses will be build new and 2.000.000 will be reconstructed per year. A big part of them are under the responsibility of housing companies. In a 18 month long working period, finished in July of 1999, the authors of this paper have written a recommendation for cabling of new and reconstructed buildings [1].
