The corrosion rate of steel reinforcement in concrete may be expressed by means of an empirical parametric equation. In the present work an expression is proposed using the electrical concrete resistivity as the main controlling parameter. This is due the resistivity changes several orders of magnitude similarly to the corrosion rate when the concrete moisture content changes. Any other of the considered parameters is so sensitive. The graphic representation of the relation between corrosion rate and resistivity is profited in present paper to check the reliability of on-site the corrosion rate and concrete resistivity measurements, as well as to extrapolate these values to the maximum likely values of the corrosion rate.
