摘要

In this Work the influence of sintering AISI 316L Stainless Steel in N{sub}2-H{sub}2 atmosphere has been studied, and the subsequent heat treatment applied to increase its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The presence of nitrogen in the sintering atmosphere leads to nitrides formation on sintered AISI 316L Stainless Steel microstructure. These laminar nitrides increase the mechanical properties but they decrease their corrosion resistance. Therefore it is necessary a subsequent heat treatment to modify the microstructure in order to improve their corrosion behaviour.
